Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Velvet River Dawn handles when you browse velvetriverdawn.com, write to us or ask us to prepare an order, why we handle it and what choices you have. Velvet River Dawn is a small shop based in Yokkaichi, Mie, and this page describes the website as it really works today: there is no online payment, no customer account and no tracking, so the sections below cover only what we actually do.
01
Information We Collect
The website does not ask you to register and does not collect anything on a server that we run. Personal information reaches us only when you send it. If you use the contact form, your email app opens with a pre-filled message, and we receive your name, email address and message only once you press send in that app. A newsletter request works the same way and contains nothing but your email address.
When you ask us to prepare an order, the message created from your cart lists the pieces and quantities you chose. To answer it we also need your name, a delivery address in Japan (or the destination, if you ask about shipping elsewhere), a telephone number for the carrier and an email address for the confirmation. We ask for nothing beyond what is needed to reply, confirm the order and deliver it.
Your browser keeps two small items so that the shop can work: the contents of your cart and a short list of pieces you recently looked at. They are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device and are not transmitted to us. The site sets no cookies of its own, so there is no cookie banner to answer.
02
Cookies and Local Storage
We do not use cookies on velvetriverdawn.com. The cart and the recently viewed list are written to local storage under this site's address so that they are still there when you move between pages or come back later. Only this website can read them in your browser, and they are never sent to a server as part of a request.
There is no analytics service, advertising pixel, social-media widget or other third-party script on the site, and the typefaces are served from the same address as the pages, so a visit does not make your browser contact any other company. If we ever add measurement or advertising tools, this policy will be changed first and a choice will be offered wherever the law requires one.
You can empty the cart from the cart page, or clear this site's data in your browser settings, whenever you like. If you block local storage altogether, the pages can still be read, but the cart will not remember your selection and the order-request button will have nothing to send.
03
How We Use Your Information
We use the details you send us for four purposes: answering your question, preparing and confirming an order request, arranging delivery and after-sales contact for orders that go ahead, and keeping the records that Japanese accounting and tax rules require. We do not use contact details for anything unrelated, and we do not combine them with information from other sources.
If you ask to receive our newsletter, your email address is used only to send the short notes about new pieces that you asked for. Subscribers are added by hand from the emails we receive, and a reply that says unsubscribe is enough for us to remove the address from the list.
We make no decisions about you by automated means, we build no profiles and we do not use your details to advertise to others. Where we handle information because you asked us to, such as a reply or an order, the purpose is the request itself; where we keep it afterwards, the purpose is the record-keeping described under retention below.
04
Recipients of Your Information
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we pass it on only as far as an order needs. A delivery company receives the recipient's name, address and telephone number so that the parcel can be delivered, and handles them under its own privacy rules. Our email service and yours both process the messages we exchange, as any email service does.
Payment is arranged by email once we confirm an order, and the website itself takes no payment details. If the method we agree with you involves a bank or a payment service, only what that method needs, such as the amount and the order reference, passes to that provider, and we tell you which provider is involved before you pay.
Some providers, email services in particular, may store messages on servers outside Japan. Under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information we provide personal data to a recipient in a foreign country only with your consent, where the recipient keeps a standard of protection equivalent to the Act, or where the law otherwise allows it, and we will explain the arrangement if you ask.
05
Data Retention
Messages that lead to an order, together with the order details, are kept for as long as the transaction, any return or warranty question and our statutory accounting and tax obligations require. We do not state one fixed period, because the legal minimum depends on the kind of record, but we do not keep these details for longer than that need.
An enquiry that does not lead to an order is kept only as long as it takes to answer it and to deal with a follow-up question, and is then deleted from our mailbox. A newsletter address is kept until you ask us to remove it, and an unsubscribe request is carried out without unnecessary delay.
Local storage on your device is under your control: it stays until you empty the cart, clear this site's data or your browser removes it. The company that hosts this website may keep ordinary access logs for operation and security; we do not receive those logs as a matter of course and we do not use them to identify visitors.
06
Your Rights Under Japanese Law
Under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (個人情報の保護に関する法律, APPI) you may ask us to disclose the personal data we hold about you, to correct it if it is inaccurate, and to stop using it or delete it where the Act allows. You may also ask about the purposes for which we use it and, where the Act provides for it, for a record of any provision to third parties.
To make a request, write to hello@velvetriverdawn.com or send a letter to Velvet River Dawn, 4-10-18 Yasujima, Yokkaichi, Mie 510-0075, Japan. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we act, because giving information about the wrong person would be a breach in itself. We reply without undue delay and, if a request cannot be met, we say so and explain why.
If you are not satisfied with our answer you may also contact the Personal Information Protection Commission (個人情報保護委員会), the authority that supervises the Act. Customers outside Japan may have further rights under the law of their own country; we respect them as far as they apply to a small shop that sells from Japan and handles data only in the ways described here.
07
Security
We keep the amount of personal information we hold small, and we handle it in a way that is proportionate for a shop of our size: orders and messages stay in our mailbox, access to it is limited to the people who run the shop, and we aim to protect the devices used for it with passwords and regular updates.
Because this website takes no payments, it holds no card numbers, and nothing you type into the cart or the contact form is stored by the site itself. Pages are delivered over HTTPS where the hosting service provides it. Ordinary email is not end-to-end encrypted, so please do not put card numbers, passwords or other sensitive details in a message to us; we will never ask for them by email.
No method of storage or transmission is completely safe, and we cannot promise otherwise. If we learn of a leak that is likely to harm you, we will report it to the Personal Information Protection Commission where the Act requires this and will tell the people affected what happened and what they can do about it.
08
Contact
Questions about this policy, requests to see or correct your information and complaints can all be sent to hello@velvetriverdawn.com. You may also write to Velvet River Dawn, 4-10-18 Yasujima, Yokkaichi, Mie 510-0075, Japan, or telephone +81 59-363-6695. Email is the quickest route because it leaves a record on both sides.
We handle personal information as Velvet River Dawn, the name under which the shop trades. The name of the person responsible for handling it is given in the notice under the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions and will be confirmed to you without delay if you ask.
We update this policy when the website or the way we work changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision, and we will tell you what changed if you ask. This version describes the site as it stands on 27 October 2026, with the cart sending order requests by email and no cookies or tracking tools in use.
